They (Scribes) wrote using Metaphors, Personifications with great hyperbole and boasting having never attended Yale, or Harvard, or Oxford or kindergarten
So, I shared with a guy (Pastor) that the word Garden (Genesis) would have meant Temple or Government (building) to the writers (Scribes) who cataloged the writings of Moses. This would not have been something needing an explanation in their culture. Well, he did a bit of research and responded, “Wow, I had no idea!” We have to give the biblical text back to the culture from where it originated.
GOD placed Adam into the office of the Presidency or King or High Priest but, he could not officiate unless he was married to a wholesome woman. Hence, the metaphoric language used to present Eve. (Leviticus 21:14)
Finally, the inaguration of the Temple in Israel and much of ancient mesopatamia was SEVEN days long. 2 Chronicles 7:8 “So Solomon held the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt.” So the 7 days of creation to the audience it was written to would have equated this to the inaguration of a temple, the elevation of a King and the rise of a political dynasty (Government) Adam fell due to a powerful, evil king and was subsequently kicked out of the house, the land, and the government…..
Another example: Jesus, (Yeshua proper) was tossing out Political Corruption in the government complex of Israel (Temple) when dealing with “Money Changers” and prostitution. The story has a metaphoric element. The writers are using metaphoric language to describe political corruption!
