I left Rochester, NY in the spring of 1977 heading to Portland, Oregon. Our eldest brother lived there. I was 17 years old and full of exploration, curiosity and wonder. I could not believe the beauty of this new place that I had only seen in picture books as a kid. All of my children were born here, for much of the last 44 years I watched Portland turn into what it is today. This is my wife’s place of birth, she is embarrassed and heart broken at what has happened to the beautiful city that we use to call home! I recently drove thru the I-5 Corridor, I felt like I was driving thru parts East Los Angeles, or Cabrini Green, Chicago!

When the political landscape changed we all saw the city go straight into hell
